Enhancing Resiliency
We design systems that make our airports more resilient to storms, flooding, wildfires, or other future climatic conditions. For each project, PAE evaluates current and future environmental considerations to develop highly customized and resilient solutions, bringing independence and security to owners, stakeholders, and occupants. Our team ensures airports are built to prepare for, respond to, and manage a crisis or disruption as it unfolds, and ultimately return to normal operations as quickly and efficiently as possible.
Many of our resilient design strategies overlap with highly sustainable design, including finding opportunities for energy and water independence, sourcing local materials, and designing for occupant comfort. Resilient design strategies include using photovoltaic panels, incorporating microgrids and battery storage, conserving water, and using passive design strategies such as daylighting and natural ventilation.
